Schottland bietet als Land mit vielen Traditionen, Schlössern, Fisch- und Golfsport eine grosse Vielfalt an Urlaubsmöglichkeiten an. Eine wilde Küste und geschützte Sandstrände sind oft nur ein Paar Kilometer voneinander entfernt, so dass man immer einen geeigneten Ort finden kann, ob man sich nun für einen Strandurlaub mit Kindern oder sich für einen aktiven Wanderurlaub durch die vielen Küstwege entscheidet. So gibt es Heideland zum Wandern, Berge zum Klettern, Hügel und Bergschluchten, Wälder und ländliches Ackerland.
In Schottland ist man nie weit von Seen oder der Küste entfernt. Diese haben in der Entwicklung der Nation eine wichtige Rolle gespielt. Es gibt verschiedene maritime Museen wie z.B das ‘Scottish Fisheries’ Museum in Anstruther, Fife und das maritime Museum in Aberdeen, das eine faszinierende Geschichte über die Ölgewinnung zu erzählen hat.
Die niedrige Bevölkerungsdichte bringt mit sich, dass viele Städte sich nicht so richtig entwickelt haben und dadurch immer noch einen Charme ausstrahlen der sonst von nationalen Hotelketten verändert worden wäre.
Viele lokale Händler sind immer noch im Stande gut zu gedeihen mit lokalen Produkten und traditionellen Diensten.
Die Städte bieten auch ein anregendes Nachtleben und ein reiches Kulturangebot. Aber auch wenn man im Zentrum von Edinburgh, Glasgow oder Aberdeen verbleibt, man ist nie weit von der ländlichen Ruhe entfernt. So kann man beide Welten voll geniessen. Abgesehen von der Anziehungskraft der Natur, besuchen auch viele Leute wegen der Schlösser und Brennereien, Schottland. Eine grosse Menge an Brennereien werden dem Publikum für Rundgänge und Proben angeboten. |
