A l'ouest, se trouve la montagne Snowdon, le sommet le plus élevé d'Angleterre et du pays de Galles, qui domine une chaîne entière de montagnes rocheuses, et qui constitue un véritable pôle d'attraction pour quantité d'alpinistes et des promeneurs. Snowdonia est une région d'une exceptionnelle beauté naturelle et offre une formidable diversité de paysages. Des sommets montagneux les plus élevés, en passant par des lacs tranquilles, des rivières au cours rapide et une profusion de chemins forestiers, jusqu'à des kilomètres de plages dorées sur la péninsule de Lleyn. C'est également ici que vous trouverez quelques-uns des meilleurs endroits du pays de Galles pour faire de la voile ou du surf.
A l'est, vous trouvez à l'opposé un paysage beaucoup moins montagneux, composé de landes, de vallées verdoyantes et des collines en pente de la région frontalière. Vous pouvez également rendre visite aux nombreux bourgs très intéressants, vous promener à travers les collines et les sentiers de 'Clwydian Range', ou vous imprégner de l'atmosphère des propriétés et des jardins majestueux.
L'arrière-pays abrite aussi de nombreux endroits très attrayants qui méritent le détour: 'Llangollen' et sa vue sur la rivière, ses promenades sur le canal et son train à vapeur, 'Ruthin' avec son château et ses banquets médiévaux, 'Betws-y-Coed' et les voisines 'Swallow Falls', les cavernes d'ardoise à 'Blaenau Ffestiniog', et ensuite 'Anglesey' via le pont 'Menai'. Au nord du pays de Galles, vous découvrez quelques-uns des plus beaux points de vue de Grande-Bretagne: d'une vue sur l'océan aux vastes panoramas, des gigantesques châteaux et forteresses aux domaines historiques et aux golfes bleus. |
