Northern
Ireland is a constitutionally distinct region
of the United Kingdom. And although the publicity
surrounding Northern Ireland's troubled past has
severely damaged its tourist industry, the truth
is that it has always been much safer in Northern
Ireland than in many other tourist destinations
of the world. This is a land of blue mountains
and forest parks, mazy lakes, windswept moors
and white Atlantic sands. Dozens of small towns
are hidden away down among the green places of
the countryside, and fishing villages string out
along the shores. The towers and steeples of parish
churches mark the high ground beyond trimmed hedgerows.
If you want to see "The Giant's Causeway",
a world heritage site, or visit the world's oldest
working whiskey distillery (Bushmills), then you
just have to come to Northern Ireland ... because
that's the only place you'll find them. Add to
this the peace, tranquillity, magnificent scenery
and the hospitality for which it is famous and
you can see what makes people keep coming back.
A city break in bustling Belfast with its nightlife,
clubs and bars; a quiet relaxing family holiday
in the Glens of Antrim or beside the sea; an activity
holiday - golfing, fishing, water sports, walking;
or a cultural break taking in historic house architecture,
orchestral music; there's something for all age
groups in this wonderful region.
