South East Wales & Cardiff

In South East Wales you'll find a world of contrasts: from the bustle of the vibrant capital city Cardiff, to the astounding beauty and tranquility of the surrounding vales and mountains.
There's more to South East Wales than Catherine Zeta Jones, the Manic Street Preachers or Tom Jones. This region has a lot to offer from great scenery, good pubs and restaurants, to some excellent bed and breakfast addresses.
Cardiff is only just over the border from England and only 2 hours from London by train. The energy and ambition of Wales' capital is boundless. Not only does Cardiff have one of the finest stadiums in Europe, it also has one of the most ambitious waterfront developments, which has transformed the old docks area into a world class haven for business, leisure and fun.
Under its cosmopolitan exterior, there is also a very different Cardiff - an ancient city steeped in history waiting to be discovered. The legacy left by the Romans, Normans and the Industrial Revolution is clearly visible, as a tour of the magnificent Cardiff Castle right in the heart of the city will demonstrate.
Cardiff also has a varied cultural scene. The National Museum & Gallery houses one of the most extensive collections of impressionist paintings outside Paris. Music, of course, features strongly in the Capital City of Wales and the renowned Welsh National Opera perform here regularly.
